Weston Next-Gen Coaches
A Weston Next Gen coach is more than just a trainer—they are a mentor, a motivator, and a lifelong student of the game. Our coaches are driven, passionate, and committed to developing technically skilled, intelligent, and expressive footballers.
They create an environment where players are encouraged to take risks, think for themselves, and grow both on and off the pitch. Every session is intentional, with a focus on ball mastery, positional awareness, and decision-making under pressure.
Weston Next Gen coaches understand the importance of individual development within a team philosophy. They balance structure with creativity, discipline with freedom—always putting the player’s growth first.
Coaching To The Model
"Train What You Want To See."
We don’t coach mistakes—we coach to the model. Clear examples. Clear steps. Real progress
Instead of picking apart mistakes, our coaches spotlight the best moments—clear examples of what great play looks like. We use these to guide players, helping them understand exactly what to aim for and how to get there, step by step.
Darwin Jalil is a seasoned football administrator with more than 10 years experience in local & regional football.
"Youth Development have always been one of my key pillars in all the setups that I have established. Curating a pathway into Singapore’s professional football scene have always been my primary focus. More than 15 players have benefitted and turned professional from this arrangement since 2018. Now being involved in Weston NextGen Academy Singapore, I am excited that we can further develop young players and help them realise their dreams to become professional players. With great players that WNG Academy have produced through many generations, we are excited to bring Weston NxtGen to Singapore."
At Weston Next Gen Academy, my focus is on developing technically gifted, confident players who are ready to step into the Balestier Khalsa Centre of Excellence at the U13 level. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of leading academy programs across Singapore, Japan, the United States, and the UK — including my time as Technical Director for Liverpool FC International Academy Singapore and as a head coach in Japan. Those experiences have shaped the way I approach player development.
I believe in building individuals within the team setting — players who are comfortable on the ball, who can receive and play with both feet, who aren’t afraid to take on 1v1 situations, and who can make smart decisions under pressure. More importantly, I want them to be brave. I’ve seen how much players grow when they’re encouraged to take risks, make mistakes, and learn from them in a supportive environment.
Creativity and expression are at the core of what we do. It’s not just about technique; it’s about building confident, intelligent players who can thrive in a possession-based style of play. That’s what we’re preparing them for — not just the next level, but to love the game and own their development journey.
